On the twenty-third year of proficuous artistic labor, Orquestra do Norte travels the Way of St. James with the purpose of bringing the great Music to the Architectural Patrimony and, in it, offer the entire society a ludic and spiritual exercise.
This cycle of concerts enjoys the contribution of the following entities: the municipalities of Amarante, Chaves, Guimarães, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Vila Real and Viseu, the “Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto”, the Rectory and Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, the Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Lufthansa lgsp.
The present itinerary’s creation and organization is the fruit of the Associação de Amigos da Orquestra do Norte’s (“Orquestra do Norte’s Friends’ Association”) labor, with the institutional endorsement of the Secretary of State for Culture.
This joint effort represents, simultaneously, both a cultural investment and regional affirmation – which, on par with others, serves locals and visitors alike and, one hopes, embodies a true meeting!
Featuring the participation of six choirs, soloist singers and orchestral conductors, “Music in the Way of St. James” includes, in its current iteration, works of reference and an absolute premiere.
